Guest post from LiveWorx sponsor TeamViewer

For LiveWorx 18 (held June 17-20 in Boston, MA, USA), TeamViewer IoT, PTC and Device Authority teamed up  to showcase how their individual solutions can work together to produce a smart, connected and secure water pump unit. The unit is powered by PTC’s ThingWorx® Industrial Innovation Platform. ThingWorx is a purpose-built, industrial innovation platform designed to reduce the time, cost, and risk associated with creating industrial IoT solutions for today’s connected world. TeamViewer has already been integrated into the ThingWorx platform since May 2018 and thus during conversations with PTC, the idea of creating a joint demo came naturally.

In the demo, ThingWorx leverages sensor data taken from the physical pump to deliver, in real time, a compelling AR experience in Vuforia. Visitors at LiveWorx and succeeding IoT trade shows were stunned to see the real-time sensor data standing in front of the water pump, simply by using the Vuforia app on their mobile devices or the Microsoft Hololens.

Device Authority provides simple, innovative solutions to address the challenges of IoT device identity, data security and encryption. The sensor data from the pump is transferred securely to ThingWorx using Device Authority’s KeyScaler end-to-end data privacy solution. The KeyScaler platform authenticates and authorizes the water pump to ThingWorx Cloud, allowing data to be securely transferred (encrypted) in transit and stored securely within ThingWorx. TeamViewer Cloud can securely consume the data from ThingWorx. With its remote control software solution running on more than 400 million devices, of which at least 25 million are connected at any given point in time, TeamViewer is a leading, global software provider for IoT, connectivity, monitoring, support and team collaboration.

By using the National Instruments water pump unit, TeamViewer demonstrates how data can be collected and analyzed in real time in the ThingWorx dashboard to monitor system behavior, and how TeamViewer’s Live Remote-Control function can be used to troubleshoot and manage the device remotely whenever there is any need for IoT incident management on the remote device.

As the joint TeamViewer IoT, Thingworx and Device Authority demo was very successful at LiveWorx, the partners then decided to also showcase the joint demo at the IoT Tech Expo Europe (June 27-28, 2018, in Amsterdam, NL) and subsequent events. To see the full overview of the demo, please check out the interview with Alexander Socher, Business Development Manager IoT at TeamViewer, and Jan Larsen, IoT Technical Sales Director at PTC, in the video below.
