Refactoring Wonky Windchill Workflows

Ron Harkins, Director, Engineering IT, Newell Brands

Is the logic in your workflows wild and unruly? Do small enhancements lead to hours of regression testing? Well, here is good news! This presentation will showcase how Newell Brands (NWL) has created an event-based process dispatcher for Windchill workflows. The functionality was implemented to minimize logic complexity within a standard “workflow backbone” while providing hooks to enable process variation to support specific business needs. This technology is currently in production and supporting the various brands in the Newell Brands (NWL) portfolio.

Back to Basics: Simplified Reps For Everyone

Josh Houser, MCAD Solutions Architect, Schneider Electric

The Simplified Representation is one of those tools that almost everybody is aware of, but nobody uses. Come to this session for a "back to basics" look at Simplified Representations and how they can turn your sluggish, disorganized models into fast, efficient tools to get your next product to market. While it's not IoT-specific and does not require AR goggles, this presentation contains information on one of the building blocks to advanced product development.

Lessons Learned: Moving to Creo 4.0 For The Enterprise

Matthew Burr, CAD Analyst, Solar Turbines Incorporated

Historically, upgrades are large undertakings and once an upgrade is completed, no changes take place for long periods of time. As more and more changes occur around the CAD software (Windchill changes, OS changes, graphics drivers, etc.), issues start to appear in the CAD software. Correcting these issues usually requires extensive projects typically requiring all users needing to check in or upload data into Windchill, and preserving any modified data before an upgrade. With Creo 4.0, Solar Turbines decided to accelerate by installing every Creo 4.0 maintenance release. Presenters from Solar Turbines will review some of the lessons learned with the new strategy and how it changed their system administration of Creo, from how it is installed and managed, to how it is launched and deployed.

1:00 - 1:45 p.m.

Model Tree Tricks for Large Assembly Management

Pete Hollmer, Senior MCAD Applications Engineer II, Raytheon

The model tree has been ubiquitous in Creo Parametric for nearly twenty years. For assemblies especially, and large assemblies in particular, it’s been an invaluable tool for interrogating troublesome areas and correcting them. This session will cover not only the simple everyday applications, such as using columns and filters to isolate areas, but also some out-of-the-box uses of the model tree like editing parameter information, exporting it to another format, and applying Excel finesse. Attendees will leave with a number of new tricks for how to better handle their large assemblies.
