Vice President of Competition, Richard Childress Racing

Dr. Eric Warren earned his Ph.D in Aerospace Engineering from North Carolina State University with help from NASA. In 1997, Dr. Warren's career in motorsports began when he accepted an engineering role with NASCAR's Kranefuss-Haas Racing. In 2002, he became the technical director at Evernham Motorsports, winning 12 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS) races. He advanced to vice president of the organization and then accepted a similar role at Michael Waltrip Racing.

Dr. Warren then served as the chief aerodynamicist of USF1 and focusing his engineering efforts on designing a Formula 1 car for competition. Warren joined Richard Petty Motorsports (RPM) in 2010 as technical director, overseeing all technical and race engineering activities. While at RPM, he also served as the primary liaison with Roush Fenway Racing and Ford assisting in the advancement of vehicle dynamic simulation, aerodynamic development, and race engineering for the combined technical partnership of Ford, Roush Fenway Racing and RPM.

Dr. Warren joined Richard Childress Racing (RCR) in 2012 as director of competition and was named Vice President of Competition in 2016. During his first full season with RCR, he was instrumental in the team winning an overall total of nine races, the No. 29 Chevrolet team made the Chase for the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup and the No. 3 Camaro team earned the 2013 XFINITY Series championship. In 2014, Dr. Warren helped guide the No. 31 Chevrolet program to a berth in the Cup Series playoff system, where Ryan Newman ultimately finished second in the point standings during his first season at RCR. In total, his efforts have helped RCR visit Victory Lane a total of 23 times, including Newman’s MENCS win on March 19th at Phoenix Raceway.
