Dave Bourgeau is a patent attorney and a partner at the law firm of Kolisch Hartwell. His practice includes all aspects of intellectual property law, including patent, trademark, copyright, and trade secret matters. With a strong technical background in industrial engineering, computer science, and nuclear engineering, as well as extensive practical experience in manufacturing and business, Dave advises companies on a broad array of both technical and non-technical matters. Dave’s first experience with robotics was in the auto industry, where his time as an engineer and manager on the factory floor included work with ABB, Kuka, and Fanuc robots. He also worked as a nuclear power-trained officer in the U.S. Navy, where he was in charge of reactor controls and electrical systems on the USS California, and as an engineer and manager in the shipping and food industries, focusing mainly on manufacturing systems and equipment, software application development, process design, project management, root cause analysis, and complex planning. As an IP attorney, Dave’s focus is on helping businesses identify and strategically protect their intellectual property, while avoiding issues with other parties. As a registered patent attorney, he can assist with every aspect of IP law, including patent preparation and prosecution, portfolio strategy, licensing, and freedom-to-operate.
