Matthew Burr

CAD Analyst, Solar Turbines Incorporated

I have been using PTC software since 1993 and have been on both the design side and the IT side of Creo. For the last 7 years, I have been in the support group for PTC products, primarily the CAD and Viewing (Creo View) front, including integration with other software (Windchill, ANSYS, ...).

Session Track: Digital Engineering

TD167 - Lessons Learned: Moving to Creo 4.0 For The Enterprise

Historically, upgrades are large undertakings and once an upgrade is completed, no changes take place for long periods of time. As more and more changes occur around the CAD software (Windchill changes, OS changes, graphics drivers, etc.), issues start to appear in the CAD software. Correcting these issues usually requires extensive projects typically requiring all users needing to check in or upload data into Windchill, and preserving any modified data before an upgrade.

With Creo 4.0, Solar Turbines decided to accelerate by installing every Creo 4.0 maintenance release. Presenters from Solar Turbines will review some of the lessons learned with the new strategy and how it changed their system administration of Creo, from how it is installed and managed, to how it is launched and deployed.
