s651 - Dancing Skeletons- Using Motion Skeletons to Evaluate and Analyze the Kinematics of Mountain Bike Suspension

SRAM produces rear shocks for full-suspension mountain bikes. It’s necessary to "tune" the shocks for customers to give the best performance for various suspension designs and layouts. Traditionally this is done by obtaining a frame and having an expert test different tuning setups until they find one that is acceptable. By simulating the frame geometry in Creo, SRAM is able to virtually evaluate and analyze the frame's suspension kinematics and characteristics without the need for a physical product. This information allows SRAM to recommend a base tune for the customer much faster and at a lower cost to the customer.
