Peter Schlothauer

Head of Development Robotic Kinematics , Festo SE & Co. KG

After studying mechatronics at the technical university of Ilmenau I started my working career in the customer specific development at Festo. Through gaining experience and within the transformation of Festo from component to solution supplier I developed myself towards systems engineering for international key-account projects. My actual home is the robotics development where I have the disciplinary responsibility for the kinematics team and act as Product Owner for the mechatronics agile team. So far I don’t know any other topic next to robotics which combines that much competencies and disciplines. The work with a lot of very different people at a common target is inspiring, exhausting, motivating and for sure a lot of fun. The efficient combination from ALM including requirements engineering to PDM throughout the fast iterations in an agile world are a key-must to me for shaping and sharpening the target. All in all following the motto: “Success makes fun – fun generates success”

AL1070B - ALM Meets PDM: A Journey From Requirements to Realization

Festo, the leading supplier of automation technology and technical education, is deploying products and services to meet the challenges of smart production. Transparent, agile product development regarding interdisciplinary tasks and requirements presents us with challenges for worldwide development. With our Technical Engineering Centers, we can respond quickly and flexibly to customer requirements and needs. To implement these factors, we need a single source of truth via ALM. Using the Festo Cobot, we’ll show our approach to agile development in all disciplines within Codebeamer. Instead of responding to a single specification doc, each individual REQ has its own lifecycle, change management, and test case linked to an iteration of the product. The goal is vast development speed linked to full transparency on quality and content!
