Liveworx | Porsche Is Using Augmented Reality for Remote Assistance

Perhaps the most practical application of augmented reality in industrial settings is the use of headset technology for hands-free communication between parties in a manner that improves efficiency.

Video conferencing provides field technicians with access to a variety of on-demand specialists who can deliver help in real time. Both parties can see the issue, enabling the specialist to guide the field technician remotely and provide instructions and course correct the hands of the technician following along. The visual interface provides a direct line of sight to the problem in question, helping to ensure maximum compliance.

Automotive company Porsche uses augmented reality in this fashion, with RDG-7 smart glasses, in a program called Tech Live Look.
